Pitbull, 2/3" :) Wouldnt advice bristlenose myself, a little on the larger side. The biggest Id go for would be a bulldog (4/5").

Bristles get to about 4-5" aswell

as long as you keep up with tank maintenance there is no reason any of the smaller 4-5" plecs wouldnt be fine in a 15gal.
Have a look at the pinned topic in the Plec section "30 plecs under 8 inches" - Just avoid the ones larger than 5" ;)

Go careful - I can get things wrong - and often do :D

The largest BN (common) I've had and seen was 6" tip to tip TL (Total Length) - but 5" SL (Standard Length)

SL is generally considered the normal mething for giving sizes of fish as it excludes the tail - the size and length of which can vary.
