A world of my own
I have 2 lights in my 65g. There is a java fern and an swordlike plant with white roots attached to driftwood. One of the lights is a 20w while the other one came with the tank. They are both fluorescent lights. I wanted to leave both on, but my dad said it may overheat the tank. Can this happen? BTW, is it safe to put seashells into a fw tank?

Since the lights are standard flouresents you shouldn't have a problem with them over heating the water, especially on a larger tank like your 65 gallon.
You probably be better off not putting seashells in as they can alter the waters chemistry.

some at the store are full blast hot. marine ones mainly.

Ok, i'll be telling my dad that. As to the seashells, it alters the chemistry? How? pH? kH? gH?
