Resetting Tank Up

I had a few fish in my tank which all died a few months ago.

Since then i have left my tank with the water in and the filter media in ut the tank not running.

I was wondering, how should i go about setting my tank up again?

Just clean the media and cycle again?

Or will there still be bacteria on the media?

With nithing to feed the bacteria, I am afraid it will have to be recycled.

Yes, you will unfortunately have to re-cycle the filter. Do you have a friend who could help out by giving you a bit of their mature media? There really is no better way to get it kick started.
