Well just back from Pets at home with my friend. She was in getting fish food and I couldnt help myself from having a look at the fish.. What can I say "The staff dont have a clue" I am so angry as I type this  .. Came across this little fella in some state , knew I couldnt leave him  .. Told them I would like a discount for him , was told "no dont give discounts on any of the fish or animals" So I had a rant and a rave at them..Not that it does any good..Ended up buying him £3.99.. Have him in a 3 gallon the now, added stress coat and Melafix. He is managing up and down for air.. Is there anything else I could or should do.. Thankyou xx

He has no tail or fins.. He only has 1 of his little side fins...

Aww. I would just keep an eye out for it and keep the water super clean. He might get finrot.

PS: looks like a girl to me!

  poor lil guy, never saw one so bad, if you haven't already i'd lower the water level, keep us updated on him :good:

Report them if theres other like that...It's wrong!Anyway, he looks nice and in good health?Seems like the damage had only been done recently. :good:

What do you think then male or female.. I thought he was a male.. and they charged me at the males price ! Yeah I will lower the water the now lil fishie.. thanks xx

good god what was he in with?!?!? last time i saw one like that he was in with a load of dwarf puffers! keep him in shallow water so that he can come up to breath. keep his water very clean and feed him rich foods to help the regroath of his fins

Blue Betta I think he was in with a load of tetras or something..I have lowered his water to about 4-5 inches should I lower it more? x

Aww :( Poor 'lil girl/guy. Ughhh petstores these days!! How could they do that to a poor 'lil fish? Did they even SEE how he looks!
It's good you rescued him. ;)
Anyway, yeah just lower his water, keep feeding him rich foods, & he may get finrot; but that can be treated with medication. :D
Good luck with him; I'm so glad he's in a good home! Poor lil guy!

Thanks Pop.. Yeah the petshops know, they just dont care.. "its only a fish".. Ignorant b*stards..
Yeah im glad I rescued him too , just watch this space he will have flowing fins I hope in the future.. :good: xx

aw such a shame he looks such a nice colour, i love reds, will watch his progress :good:

glad he is actually able to swim poor guy, still has some fight in him :D

Yip I think he may be a little fighter lil fishie  .. I hope he makes it through the night.. I will probably be up every hour tonight checking on him.. :S x

No problem! :)
Aww, he looks so sweet; I love his red color, too. :D
Yeah, I hate when people think a fish is just a fish. They're a living creature & should be treated with respect just like any other animal!
I think he will get better; since he's in your care, you're really taking good care of him, he's probably happy he's with such a great owner. :)

has he got a heater? i cant see one in the pic. if not i suggest getting one, a steady temptature will help his healing progress. in such a small volume of water, the temp will fluctuate greatly. a fit healy adult could tollerate small swings in temp but it will only hinder his progress

Oh good heavens, well boy or girl, the very best of luck getting them back to full health and well done for taking them home x
