Ok I'd like better lighting in my tank but I'm not really up for breaking fixing or altering anythinhg so is there just another stronger or better bulb I could just fit right into where the juwel bulb is?

Oh well that sucks.
Can i just get the sets that rest on the glass and take the hood off al together?Or are they pretty expensive?

There are different flourscent tubes available of the size you require which are certainly brighter than the one that came with your Juwel aquarium.
Interpet Daylight Plus is one instance.

Your'e right BigC - didn't think of that. I actually once used a Marine White (brilliant white) which made a huge difference - but that was in conjunction with another "warmer" tube on my large tank. So it created a bright but warm balance.

Worth keeping in mind that replacing tubes (especially different types and kalvin ratings) can often induce an algae spurt.
