I just bought a Finnex 4 gallon tank to use as a freshwater red cherry shrimp tank with moss in it. It came with a lamp that uses a 26w, 115V, 60 Hz bulb that is part blue, part white. I'd love to replace this with a more plant-friendly bulb. I've found some CFL "grow lights" online, but none that fit this exact description.

I see 20W and 25W "grow light" compact fluorescent bulbs, but the 25W one has a voltage of 120V. No indication of the Hz, I'm not sure if that matters.

Anyway, am I risking burning my house down if I replace a 115V fluorescent bulb with a 120V fluorescent bulb, even if the latter is rated at a lower wattage?

You should try and use these http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3733+9870&pcatid=9870

I was going to throw out the hood as i do not like incandescent bulbs but then i found these that fit the fixture and decided to give it a try. They have given me good results and have a good lifetime.
