Repairing A Light Ballast

One of the two lights in my Marineland Eclispe tank went out and it's not the bulb. Marineland doesn't offer a replacement for just the one fixture, instead only the whole part for $54/30£! I could pick up an entire used unit for 1/2 that but it seems like a shame to toss an otherwise fine unit. So... has anyone replaced one of these and know where I can get just the replacement part? Is it relatively easy and safe thing to do? I'd rather not fry myself or my fish. Thanks in advance

Unless you know what you're doing its best not to 'play' with electronic ballasts of any kind, they run off mains voltage and use capacitors, etc. which can pack a very big punch.

that's why I'm asking... I don't want to "fiddle" or "play" with anything. But I wouldn't mind learning how to repair one properly... if possible. thanks
