This evening I hope to be collecting a used juwel vision 180 complete with its standard filter. I plan to remove and replace the filter for an external one, but I know the standard internal one is fastened to the glass using sealant. So what is the best way to remove it? Brute force? A knife? Suggestions for removing residual sealant from the glass would also be appreciated.

Cheers, Andy

Stanley knife blade and a bit of elbow work mate, not much more than that. If you can get a retractable craft knife (extra long stanley blade) then that might help get behind it.

I pinched my brothers Flexible School Ruler haha and just slid it down the side, did the trick brilliantly. Then its just a case of peeling off the remaining sealant, which just fell away for me after removing the internal box. Simple.

I'd recommend using a palette knife, you can always heat the end to melt the silicone.

Cheers guys. I'll give it a go later this evening and let you know how it went. :)

Yeah i did this a couple days ago as i wanted my filter on the other side... I used a serated saw knife and just slid it down the back, it takes a bit of elbow grease but just be patient and give it gentle tugs as you go, mine ended up coming away with a small tug after cutting some of the silicone

My box filter fell off of my juwel system. Just aswell, as I wanted to move it to the other side anyway. To remove the residue, I used white spirit and kitchen roll. Obviously I rinsed well afterwoods to remove any white spirit solution.
