Remove The Juwel Rekord Black Brace Bar?

Has any one here removed the Black Brace Bar thing that is under the Juwel tank?

I think its for stability of the tank;- rather than using a polysterene sheet underneath the tank. But... I want to take it off, because then you wont be able to see the thick layer of sand.

Would it be ok to remove it and put a sheet of polysterene at the bottom of the tank without the brace that it came with?

Should be fine, but I wouldn't try it personally, I know George farmer has done it on his Rio 125 which can be found on UKAPS

Oh, maybe i should have added it will be a marine tank. Would the live rock make a difference?

Has anyone else attempted it?
