The previously "dead" pond that I found the baby fish in? well, I had a lie down today and hung over the pond for a few minutes, sprinkled some food on and waited....I have at least 17 babies in it!

Now what am I going to do with 17+ baby fish?? the pond isn't big enough for them all, good lord,

I had had these fish for years and not one single baby while they were in tanks. 10 minutes in a pond and I have hundreds (well, at least 17). Guess they were all celebrating their freedom.

Are these goldfish? They always breed like crazy in ponds compared to aquariums. If your pond isn't big enough, you need to look for some new homes for some of them so they won't get stunted.

I would rehome them if the pond isn't big enough for them. How many gals is it plus how deep is it and how large are the goldfish fry? If the fry are still very small, putting a large koi in there should take care of the unwanted fry  .
Healthy and mature goldfish will spawn every spring and will lay hundreds of eggs- a lot of these eggs will get eaten, and any fry that hatch will be further harrassed by any big omnivorous fish in the pond with mouths big enough to swallow them until the fry are large enough. The only way to naturally keep on top of the fry numbers is to keep a couple of large fish in pond like some koi (if the pond is big/deep enough) or fully grown goldfish which will eat any eggs they find or fry they catch  .

Naturally I was going to rehome, I was just expressing my surprise at finding them all

I wonder which ones I should keep? I think I got a big bunch of shubs in there, maybe a few goldies, not sure on the koi yet. I'll have to let them get a bit bigger and see what they are going to turn in to.
