Releasing new females into the tank

I have another question - One of my females has a piece of her tail missing. It was like that when I got her. What can I do to make it grow back?

i think just feed her well, giver her lots of love, and be very patient!!!!!

a little salt in the tank never hurts if shes stressed but i dont think that would help the tail grow back faster

Wow they were beautifull
They were. They really were :-(

(lol okay I gotta stop the self-pity thing. I'm about to get a brand new tank to set my convicts up in so I'll focus on that instead ;) that, and your new girls :D Looking forward to pics ;))

When I have ripped fins I always put salt in the tank, and it seems to heal very quickly. I don't know how much quicker it is, b/c I never give it the chance to grow back without salt. So my advice would be to add salt, and it should be good in a few days.

Andie - You will be ok ;) Just give it some time

I will add some salt to the tank when I get back home. Im just on my way out to look for another female :D Wish me luck guys! :fun:

Ok so I got 1! :D She very tiny imo compared to my other girls. Will she be ok with them?
Also could someone run down the procedures about introducing the new girl? Oh and her name is 'Divine'

Ok so I took them out and am letting the new girl sit in hre cup to get used to the water. I have left 1 female in the tank - The one whos the shyest. I will than add the other 2 in about 1/2 hour. Does that sound right?

Take everything out, the existing girls and all of the ornaments. Move everything around so it doesn't look anything like it did before. Then one by one put them back in. They should figure out the pecking order pretty quick. Just keep an eye on them so they don't get too out of hand. Once I redid my decorations everyone got on fine, and now they love each other. Goodluck! I have one girl that is much bigger and she doesn't bother the smaller ones a bit. Just watch her.

Ok perfect, Everyones back in the tank and so far so good :) And I made a mistake... My tank is a 5 1/2 gallon not 5 gallon. Yeah!
Do you guys think I could add at least 1 more female?

I wouldn't add any more. I think you might be pushing it with 4. What are the dimensions of the tank?
