I havent really had a problem keeping them alive in the past, although, I never wanted them in the first place.

Now however, I plan on setting a tank up just for them, to use as live feed for my crayfish.

Any paticular water params I should be aware of that help keep them alive, or thrive?

I've had some problems keeping mystery snails alive in the past and dont want to make the same mistakes again.

And, while we're at it......mystery snails......what can I do to ensure these little creatures survive?
I've kept them before, but with little success.

Well for starters..

what are all your water parameters? Do you add salt or anything?

what kind of fish have you kept them with in the past?

what did you feed them?

Don't know about mystery snails, but all you need to keep pond snails alive and well is a small tank and a sponge filter. Feed just about anything. No heater needed even. Pond snails are the cockroach of the aquarium world.

Adistar, water params are completely fine, and I dont add salt unless medicating.
I would move the snails if I added salt, in most cases.

About my origanal post.
I have kept mystery snails alive for months in the past, but as soon as I add one to my goldie tank it dies.
Water params in the goldie are fine, and were fine when they died.
I've housed them with peaceful fish.
Except the one time I put one in with my clawed frog, that was my mistake.
I fed them spiralina pellots, and seen them munching on dead plant matter and leftover foods.

Now, the pond snails.
I have never kept them, all 7 of my tanks are live planted, so naturally, I've gone above and beyond keeping them out of my tanks, and have been very succesful to date not having a break out of snails.
However, I know want to raise them as food for my crayfish and dojo.

What about calcium?
water temp?
other foods (cheap ones)?
lighting?

Haha, on a funny note, I just got about 40 snails from the lfs and put several in one tank and the rest I threw into a tank I have chub minnows in, leftovers from a fishing trip :*) .
Anyways, the chub minnows ate every single snail I dropped in the tank.
Buggers!

Thanks for the replys!

Well, if you add salt to the water, you have to make sure that no solid pieces are left on the gravel where the snails crawl because that can kill them. It's better to desolve it in a container of water then add it to the tank.

U'll definitely need plants because it's fresh food for them and they'll enjoy climbin on them as well. Mine eat just about anything that's left over after the fish have eaten.

In my experience, they're better off by themselves or with fish like guppies, neons, platies, and mollies. Goldfish tend to bother them, which leads to stress and eventually death.

If housed with bigger fish, there's a possibility of the snails getting knocked over or down from the glass or plants, which they don't like.
