Sorry for yet another stupid question! I've recently bought Seachem Prime water conditioner, which I haven't used before, and is clearly a lot more concentrated than the previous conditioner I used. The dosage is 1 capful (5ml) per 200L. It also notes that for smaller volumes, each cap thread is approximately 1ml.

My aquarium is 57L, and I do a roughly 50% water change each week. So if I round that up a little to 30L, I've worked out that for 30L, I will need 0.75ml, aka 3/4 of a thread on the cap?

Is this maths correct? I don't want to do anything before I'm sure. Also for such a small measurement, I imagine that I'd be better off using a syringe? And if so, can anyone please direct me to a suitable syringe online - preferably available in the UK? Please and thanks, really appreciate any help!

Work out the volume of water in the tank first, because even tho tanks are referred to as 57 litre, 100 litre, etc, they never hold that much water when set up.

To work out the volume of water:
multiply length x width x height in cm.
divide by 1000.
= volume in litres.

when you measure the height, measure from the top of the substrate to the top of the water level.

off hand if I recall correctly, there is 16 drops in 1 ml.

an eye dropper works better than a syringe for measuring small amounts, unless it has measurements on the side of the syringe.

I ordered like a dozen 1 ml syringes off ebay for like 3 usd. I use them to dose meds to my animals and chemicals to my aquariums .Check ebay they may take a little while to get there because they are from china but they are cheep.

Just go to your nearest pharmacy and ask for a 1ml babies' medicine dosing syringe. The babies' medicine dosing bit is very important or you'll get the third degree about why you want a syringe ;) They are only £1 or so and you need one sooner than Ebay can deliver.
These are marked in 100th of a ml and make it easy to dose all sorts of things in a small tank. You need 0.75 ml in total for your 30 litres but if you add that by, say, 3 x 10 litre buckets you'd need to add 0.25 ml to each bucket then run the water in.

I find the writing does wear off after a while, and it would be a good idea to have more than one in case you ever need to add medication - separate syringe for each bottle - so I would get a few more from Ebay/Amazon if that works out cheaper than the pharmacy.
