Petco tries to be all things to all pet owners/keepers and this is clearly not possible, but in the opinion of forum members, can one expect to find decent live plants there? With another 45 minutes of driving (each way), there's a good store with many more options, but I'm just looking for basics like amazon swords, crypts, bacopa, java fern etc.

What are your thoughts?

It really just depends on location. I’ve seen PetCo’s who were selling dead plants, while I’ve seen other that have a nice big tank full of lush plants.

I can’t speak for the “dry” plants that they sell (the ones in the tubes), because I’ve never bought any.

hello, some of my plants are from the tubes
expensive, no hitchhikers, all emersed grown though.
half of them are land plants, such as Umbrella Plant and any dracaneas.
if theres plants in tanks, def buy tank plant instead of tube plant

they die back, but shortly after, grow back.
my big amazon sword is from there and she had some babies after getting used to my tank

I did visit what has to be the world's smallest Petco and bought two plants in the little tubes. They did indeed have a tank with more options and I'd have preferred that but they were pretty snail-infested and I'm not looking for that right now.

My wife was not involved.

So I made the joke my “wife's” name was typo, because it was a typo. It was supposed to be funny, but no one caught on.
