So wait, you've got the RO unit going constantly? Is this just to fill the tank up, or are you going to basically be changing 60L per day? That's going to get real expensive real fast... RO cartriges and your water bills will not be cheap if you're changing 60L per day :S

well 60ltrs per day is the same a your girlfriend having a bath a day. also i have asked about the charger and it will work constanly for 2 years but once a month it should be cleaned.

As i dont have a girfriend at the moment i will treat the fish.

But my plan at teh moment is to get a water timer that will turn the water on 3 times a day and it will push out around 20L

Which is more what i want but i will need to buy an electrical water timer but they are €90. so i will need to wait for my vacation pay before doing this.

I think that 20L a day is more like what i should be looking at. but really i should be looking at 90L a day as normally it is 10% water change.

But once the whole thing is up and running properly i will test the water purity and every thing once i have ziolite, Carbone, Aqua Mud and BIO balls in place

Are you planning on dosing the tank with any fertilizers other than CO2?

Depends on what kind of plants you want to keep. I had considered a big planted tank a while ago before deciding to go marine and I do remember that lots of people dosed fertilizers other than just nitrates to keep optimal plant growth. I wouldnt be the one to advise, but the planted tank guys know their stuff :). The general rule of thumb... The bigger the leafs and the darker green the leaf the easier it is to keep and less ferts required. Hence in my little 20g tank I just have some anubias of different variteies, some echinoderous, and java fern. Dont have to dose a thing with those guys :).

ok all
this is an updtae to the price list

i have purchased 25L of Carolit Active Cabon (Aquamedic) and i have added half to the bio filter. This will now clean the water for ph and smells.
Cost was 59.50 but this will last a year.

I have also purchased 5L of Bio balls. from Aquamedic i have placed these in to the bio drip filter

Cost 26.50

Wait until next week to see what i have ordered

So the tank has water in it now?

Yea i have had water in the tank for the past two weeks. i have also has the RO running for this time as well but as i have now purchased a new RO, i have taken the other back. I have no test kits as yet so i dotn know what the water quality is like. but for the last two weeks i have had the RO running.

Becasue of this the water hasnt had any time to really get over filled with toxins.

now that i have active carbon and bio balls this will start the cleaning of the water.
I have noticed that an algee slime has gone everything so i know that the bactiera is now working. i just need to get it all running good. i have tried to get a cycle going but i dont have all the plants as yet, i am using the house plants to get the bacteria in the aquarium ..

The palnt are loving it.

Ok so i have been having problems because i have drilled holes in the aquarium to hide my pipes. this hasnt been a great success.

Its been springing leaks all over the place. but i have fixed them all. i hope.

Well that was until today. I had to empty the tank today and move it slightly. and i had to remove the feet from frame as they were a bit unstable.

The biggest reason i had to remove the water was because i had to remove my floor after the other tank broke and killed the wooden floor.

The good thing about it is that if i had any toxins in the tank before a 100% water change has cured this.

well the next phase will be to build the lighting cabnet. im going to make it deep enough that i can have doors on it.

OK lets go go go

So these are he up comming costs for this month...
