Just came home to find my sixline munching on what looks like a small white spider, what on earth could this be? No pic for ID im afraid as he has eaten it. Looks just like a normal house spider, but smaller and bright white all over.

your f%cked mate

do you have any zoas?

look at this thread

I have one small Zoa frag, I did actually remove a large colony of zoas last week as i had slowly been losing heads. Im assuming this was probably the cause. The zoa frag i have now is attatched to a small piece of live rock (really small frag) and i havent lost any heads of that since its been in, in fact its been growing.

Ill monitor it carefully, ill probably get some red spotlights to check at night for spiders and if i find any more then ill start the FW dipping. Im hoping this is just a rogue spider from the zoa frag i removed last week.

If anyone else has any more methods ideas i'd be really appreciative of them.

the fact you even found 1 makes it a extreamly high possibility that there are many more

if i were you i would ditch the frag and do not stock any zoas for at least the next 4 months, this will let the beasts have enough time for a full life cycle therefore starving the spiders

seriously shelton in the link i gave you had a stunning collection of zoas just destroyed by these spiders, i would get rid of the zoas ASAP

That would be one of them. Pseudochromis and mandarins might do a good job too...

read the thread

its all in their

we came to the conclusion the only was to get rid of them is starvation, remove polyps and wait basicly

i am honestly surprized the wrasse ate a spider int he first place tbh, but go get a coffee and get reading everything you need to know about them is in there
