I agree with Wills. Fire eels are common and not going anywhere, so get them after you have the proper tank.

This genuinely gave me a 'nightmare' this morning - I dreamt I had one from my dad (His died about a year ago) and It's black split - literally hanging by a thread. I picked it out by hand to euthanise it and it completely clamped my hand with such strength.

Hi I've recently bought 2 reed fish but I don't know much about them so any info would be appreciated I currently have them in a 2 1/2 foot tank with 10 barbs and 2 butterfly fish I know I got to upgrade the size of my tank but don't know how big to go could I get away with a 3 foot tank ? I was told that the reed fish can get up to 3 foot in the wild and only 1foot in a tank

Hi mate Reed fish are escape artists and will hide anywhere, I am looking for two more Reed fish so can I ask you were you got them? Cheers
