I recently brought a red oscar for my 45 gallon tank and he’s doing great I taught him how to eat out of my hands and jump up and eat. He’s not to big he’s about a juvenile what’s you guys experience with Oscar’s

Big fish need big tank. Minimum size tank for 1 adult Oscar cichlid is 4x2x2ft.

They are ambush predators and will get along with other fish if put in a mixed collection while young, but once they are 4 or more inches long, they tend to dominate smaller fish if they didn't grow up with them.

This is actually all about tank size, as with most cichlids. Keep them in a big enough tank and they’re totally peaceful with any small fish too big to eat. For Oscars a “big enough tank” would be about 8’ x 3’…
Most cichlids are only intolerant if the tank isn’t big enough, and most are peaceful if it is.
