At my local fish store, they have a Red Eye Tetra. It looks just like it is named. It has a body like a bloodfin or neon tetra, but they all have red eyes. I couldn't find any info on them here. Maybe, I am just not seeing it though. In any case, I am very interested in buying some of these guys. I think they look amazing. Can anyone help me out with a name and maybe some info. Thanks a lot for your help.

My son has red eye tetras in his tank but they have a more rounded body than bloodfins & neons. Nice fish.

The fish most commonly called a Red Eyed Tetra is Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae, a rounder fish with a bright red highlight above the eye, a white ring around the caudal peduncle followed by a broad black bar in the tail. The other fins show faint pinkish markings on good specimens and white at the extremities of the anal and pelvic fins.

That sound like what you've seen?

Nice, very active, best in a group of at least 5, may nibble tender plants.

Sounds like what I saw. Thanks for all your help guys.
