red-eared sliders

Here are some pictures, they are not very good and are bad quality because I tried not to use the flash. I tried to get better pictures of the tank, but there was always a reflection and they turned out bad, but oh well.

That looks like a very good setup for him! What kind of lights does he have in his tank? If he's not very active it might be because he's not getting the right type of lighting. Not having good light can do a few things to a turtle.

1. He can't turn his food into energy
2. He can't keep a constant temperature (they are cold blooded)
3. His shell will get soft, which can cause fungus
4. Not being able to turn food into energy means he can't get his vitamins. This could be why his foot is hurting him, his bones could be soft from not enough calcium.

If you could get him a light at petco that says it has UVA and UVB rays that would be really good for him and it would probably help with the problems he's having. Also, you could get him a vitamin supplement to dust on his food. What do you feed him?

I'm sure he will be a lot happier with you now that he has a better home and better care. That woman who sold you the turtle was wrong for not giving you proper information and she probably didn't take very good care of him either, that's why his foot is hurt. But I'm glad you went out and bought him all that stuff and you are taking really good care of him! :flex:

thanks ^^
He has a UVB light which is attached to the top of the tank and a 50 watt basking light. I got everything he has from Petco, but something still seems wrong. I have never seen him eat. I put food in there and he won't eat it. I got him two different brands and nothing is working. I don't really know what else to try. Someone told me to buy him live food, but I don't know he can eat being so small. Also, do you know how often I should change the filter? I know that is a stupid question, but I really have no idea. Thanks for all your help.
