can thewse go with community fish and shrimp
also do they need a bit to come out of the water.

well i seen them ina community tank before ther 2 slow 2 catch fish but not reccomended with bottom Dwellers

I wouldn't get Red Claws with Shrimps unless you have a big tank, they will try and nip passing fish which might not be ideal for those Honey Gouramis you are talking about getting.

The fish doesn't need to be sick or injured. At night when the lights are off is usually when most crustaceans will hunt. The fish just have to float by and the crab will sense them and grab them. Even if the fish is way too big for the crab to kill and eat, the crab can still cause major damage to fish that might end up killing it.

I've read multiple places they are actually brackish to boot...though I've also read they really aren't as aggressive as their reputation.

You're right in that. They are brackish. And they're not aggressive at all, being scavengers and all. Of course, they could mistaken a really slow fish as floating food.

Every Red Claw I have ever had has always tried to reach up and nip the nearest passing by fish which has had biggish fins.

yes you can keep these crabs in a community, though the shrimp, would be better if they are filter feeders. they do need dry land, as they are a land crab.

also if u get an injured fish or a sick fish the crab will try and eat it
this is true. i keep both crab and crayfish in my community, not, as yet lost a fish!!!!

I believe they do like to come out of the water at times.
true true,

yep they are brackish, though if you provide a brackish pool in the dry area!! broblem solved!

well i can say i have never seen this, from ether crab or cray, though they do prod fish when they get in the way, infact, my little redcrab gets bullied by a pygmy gurami!! lol no one bullies the cray, and she returns the complement.

Well either you must have had a Gay Cray or mine must have been sniffing glue, because I had a Cray in with some Black Mollies a few years back and suddenly the Mollies started disappearing, I found them eventually stacked inside the Crays cave with chunks missing from them.

The Red Claw used to regularly try and reach up at passing fish and nip it with its claw, of course though that differs with the fish as when it tried it to the Convicts they turned him over and whacked him.

lol if she were gay i would expect her to be butch and aggressive.

it seems to be more about the maturity of the Cray, when it is put in the tank, immature Cray's do not do well in a community tank, though the same goes for young fish kept with Cray's. If your Cray is harried or pestered when it is not ready, it will in the end take revenge.
I must admit the picture of a Cray lying on its back legs crossed sniffing silicone glue, made me smile.

Crab waving: it is true i have seen that! but if the fish comes any closer the crab makes a run for it, the crab spend so little time in the tank, preferring the dry area, they use the tank like a bath, as opposed to living in there. and as someone pointed out they are a brackish, creature. this also may have something to do with its attitude.

Well to be honest my tanks had not been setup at the time with a Cray or Red Claw in mind, if I remember rightly I think I got the Cray at the time more because it was something different which you don't see in every single LFS. I am probably showing my age more and it was I think a little longer than a few years  ago when Crays had not been such a common thing in the shops. I don't deal much with Crays or Red Claws nowadays as I prefer the Apple Snails and think they do a better job at clearing up. Did think about setting up a purpose built cray tank setup though, got 9 spare tanks now and don't know what to do with them
