my red cherries gave birth a few weeks ago in a 2.5 gallon with bright light, well planted, has wood and rocks. Everything was fine until today, when i saw them all burst out of the plants they were nibbing on. they went crazy and are swimming everywhere, their heads constantly bump into walls and eachother. Anything wrong??? pH is 7.7-7.8. i thought they were hungry so i gave them a few flakes and in like 2 minutes it was gone, and i thought i overfed too. once i finished feeding, they were still berserk.....

PLEASE HELP

They wont be eating the plants just feeding off any tiny particles and algae thats on them
You should feed shrimps so that the food stays in the tank for about an hour then remove any excess , they are slower eaters than fish
try them with some , cucumber , peas , butternut squash , blanched courgette , bloodworms , daphnia , black worms , brine shrimp(i know the thought just gets me each time shrimp eating shrimp ) , apple and tuna aswell as shrimp pellets and sinking wafers
they also enjoy seaweed - the sort you get for making sushi is really easy to use , and crushed spirulina - they love to scoot along the top - usually from floating plant to floatong plant hoovering the dust off the surface

are they mature males showing these signs? I read this the other day that as females reach maturity they can release something into the tank that makes the males all drunk and swimming round banging into objects and tank glass.

Hope it is this :good: other wise you might want to check all your stats if not done so already..

ok folks got a question myself - my female red cherry's are showing saddles how long is it before the eggs will end up under the shrimp to be fertalised?

if ur female has a saddle. when it molts, it will release a substance called phemenoes or something like that haha... it will drive the male shrimps crazy and the male shrimps will try to look for where the substance is coming from. Once it finds it, it will cling on to the female and release its "production material" into the female. The proccess time is about 5-10 minutes.

How do i know? i learned from experience! :)
