A few days ago I didn't think anything of it. Now i'm worried (agian.) The puffers eyes are clear and look normal, but it seems like he can't see. He spins around at the surface of the water a whole lot. I tried to hand feed him, and he kept swimming around near my hand, spinning around, like he couldn't find the food but knew he it was around. I coaxed it near him, and once he found it and ate a big chunk of Mysis shrimp coated in blood worms, but that was all. Anything I can do? Do you think he really is blind?

:-(

He didn't even flinch. Just kept going around like nothing was hapening... I know that we have fish inour store that got eyes picked out, but they can sense when something hits the water, and come up and eat. Do you think he will end up learning?

One of my Puffers got some crazy coat over one of its eyes, it eventually went away of its own accord. I had it down to poor water quality. (id been a tad lax with water checks) Once i got my finger out he went back to normal again.

Hmmm... Hopefully he will recover. The only thing is, he has nothing wrong with his eyes, they look normal. He just acts like he can't see, thats what makes me believe he's blind.

The bath you made for him....Did you dechlorinate?
Chlorine can cause temporary blindness......
In addition;
I can't speak for puffers as a species but the vast majority of fish will be able to live and cope well with blindness, by relying on other senses.

The water was dechlorinated tank water. My Dad wasn't always dechlorinating the water, and he wasn't feeding him a great diet. I can't blame him, I left and he was willing to look after it for me. Atleast I can educate him, and he can have a fresh start.

Hmm...
Again blindness can apparently be related to malunutrition, i don't know a thing about it, but if your dad doesn't add vitamins to the puffers food then maybe he could start doing so.
I doubt blindness relating to nutrition is reversible but your dad may as well give it a go?
Combining this with dechlorinated water may help the puffer out, at least as far as i know (which isn't very far; from here to the beer possibly) its the best you can do for it.....
Good luck to the puffer!

Thanks! What kind of vitamins?

Wanted to give an update. I think he is getting better, he is still a pig, and starts to sence the food. So far we are hand feeding him okay. He is pretty fat at the moment so i'm really happy. I will try to feed him a snail tommorow morning :)

You can get liquid vitamins in the UK, normally located in LFS with medications, you can either add them to the water or allow certain foods to soak in them.
TBH i've heard of people dissolving person grade vitamin tablets in water and using this :dunno: i've done it myself, but obviously research it further;
I think Miss Wiggle was advised she could do this by her veternarian (well her fishes vet, erm...) when dealing with Hexamita.
Can you gut load snails? Maybe you could try doing it with vitamins?
Glad he is improving, hope he continues to do so.
