A Bristlenose would be my choice. They are the bomb !!
I was thinking these were only available in the UK 'cuz I only hear people from UK talking about them, and I can't find them anywhere here. Why can't I find them in Minneaoplis/St. Paul? Grrrr....

They aren't that uncommon - I see them in at least 3 LFSes in Montreal region. In fact, I will soon sell the fries to some of the stores in Montreal, so I'll find out how common these guys are... ;)

Well thanks for that, but Montreal is a bit of a drive from St. Paul.

You could always get a pleco!! Just kidding, no plecos, they get huge. I just wanted to see how many people I could get to flare up at that before they finished reading this  They have bristlenoses where I live, but I never see them do anything more than stick to the heater, kinda boring for me.

You will be surprised how active these guys become during the evening and nights. Male shows interesting behaviors during breeding as well... ;)

In my tank, these guys get more attention than any other species when my friends visit my place...

Mine are active all the time during the day, even with the lights on. One of them is king of the tank... it's very cool to watch him when I give them an algae wafer... he chases everyone off it. Awesome fish !!

I have a Clown Plec who will only grow to about 3" - 4". He 'mows' the tank every night when the main light goes out and the moonlights come on.
I would say get a small plec :D

They sure do compete - I have one male and 3 females on the same tank currently (well, not true as of last night as I transfered one), and you should see the females compete each other. They erect their fins to the maximum, bend their bodies and essentially form a circle between the two. Almost looks as if they are going after each other's tails... ;)
