I am a Nano-wannabe. I saw the JBL set up in the store but was wondering if there are other mfg of "soup to nuts" systems and the pro/cons of each -- thanks

Just my opinions/comments:

Nano Cube, Aquapod, Eclipse Systems

Advantages: self-contained and 'ready to go'; appearance/looks; cost; 'adequate for beginners.

Disadvantages: although adequate for beginners, inadequate without modifications to upgrade your tank to grow with your experience; some individual parts are cheesey; pumps with poor flow, inadequate water turnover; inadequate lighting to support many corals; some have heating issues; modifying the tanks may void the manufacturers warranty; earlier models of the JBJ NC had cracking issues, particular;y the 24G; Eclipse systems are unusually diificult to upgrade the lighting; new reports on AquaPod suggest poor tank lid fitting and cheesey construction

To name a few. SH

Thanks -- I see you are a LI guy. I was in Aquarium Adventures in Carle Place and the guys in the store said there was a new cube mfg coming out in a month or so- they did not know the name but it was an well known company. Do you have any clue?

Probably the AquaPod by CurrentUSA....but...that tank has it's issues now too. I go there from time to time...it's declined slightly in that some of their tanks look unkempt. However, they do have a large selection and are overpriced. If you plan to shop their a lot, buy their discount card. SH
