I have had my tank setup for about 3 months, and i am currently using 2 box filters
Only now 9 of my fish have died in the same day :-(
This may have been caused bu bad filtration
So, the next thing to do is to replace them.
Any ideas on whats good and whats not, would be a great help,
I am quite new to this and my local shop recomended the box filters in the first place
I am in Hampshire England.
Thanks,
Aaron

Emperors are good HOB's so are penquins I believe and so are Aquaclears. I prefer emperors but it's pretty much got to do with what you like and how much you want to spend.

Emperors are very nice I like mine a lot. I dont think your filters are to blame. What has your ater tested out at, such as nitrite, etc.? What is your stock before the 9 fish died?

I had 7 guppies, 2 angels, 2 mollies, 2 guramies, 1 apple snail and a blue lobster
All of the guppies are dead and the angels are indeed angels :-(, I have another post explaining all thats happened( EMERGENCY. FISH DYING RAPIDLY)

oops my bad, i ddin't read the subtitle,

If it is 20 gallons, any filter rated, for this tank will work honestly everyone has their preference and I like my Aquaclear 200, and would suggest that or a ac 150, Aquaclear are very simply designed and very easy to maintain and are one of the cheapest power filters to buy and maintain

Definitely try for a power filter they do a world of difference avoid Undergravel filters

I think it is a 30 gallon but the same aplies

I've used ug's twice all they do is suck dirt to the bottom, keeps the fish alive, but also keeps the tank really dirty

Definitley get an Emperor or a Penguin if you can, but I don't think they're readily available in the U.K. if that's where you're from. You can still one mail order. AquaClears are very good as well, but nothing beats a bio-wheel for bio-filtration.

Aquaclear 70/300, if it's a 33 gallon tank.

I love Aquaclears.. you can add your own media if you want, and they're really reliable. I'm running an old one from before they changed the colour of the filter from transparent brown to transparent grey, and it's just as good as the new ones.
