gonna try to attach a picture of the damage. i looked up and noticed his tail looked small and realized it was damaged pretty badly. i’m not sure if this is something i can treat with anything or have to wait and see. thanks

Tank size: 10 gal

tank age: switched him to this in september of this year

pH: neutral

ammonia: na

nitrite: safe

nitrate: safe

kH: little low

gH: hard

tank temp: 65
Fish Symptoms: his tail fin ripped completely up in the middle and the top half shredded
Volume and Frequency of water changes: 25 - 50% every week
Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: api stress coat, water conditioner, sometimes clarifier
Tank inhabitants: him and one snail
Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): a live plant and two of the decorations were added when i switched him to this tank, but never has there been an issue till i noticed this

What kind of filter do you have? Picture of filter and what kind of strength does it have? (Barely moves the surface of the water? Or is it a torrent?)

Daily water changes will help prevent infection and heal the fins faster than pretty much anything.

it’s a quiet fellow shrimp filter from aqueon. i’ll attach an image of it. it actually stopped working 3 days ago during my last water change tho, so it hasn’t been on.

Does it have a quick current?

It looks like his fins have been shredded, not from fin rot or anything.

Are the fake plants sharp?

no the only plant is a real one in the back you can somewhat see. and the current can be somewhat quick but it hasn’t been on for 3 days so i don’t think that was what caused it. also, how much should i take out while changing everyday?

Try it! This stuff no joke on healing fins!

I would say 50%. Maybe 40% if you don’t have that much time.

Is the filter broken? Try to take it apart and see if the impeller is jammed.
