Really want to save the Panda Corys

Think about it this way . . Ok, you get rid of some fish & get the 3 pandas, next week you go back to the Lfs & they have some more pandas in the same condition what are you going to do, get rid of more fish save more pandas?
Your intentions are good but also have you thought about the stress you're causing your fish by continually swapping stock around? You've already changed your stock several times in the last few weeks

That's true although they have had the panda Cory's in there since May last year so I don't think they would get them in again as they have taken a while to get rid off. I also do understand the stress that the fish have gone under with the changes but they don't seem affected by it and the honey gourami is the only change I have made in that tank for a while from Tom

i would rehome one of the honey gourami, and then you can get the pandas. but try to contact the owner of the store if you feel that they are in the wrong.. say something more on the lines that because of the conditions you have heard that more people are turning away from the store. might get them a kick to change. also say that a bare bottom is better then them having a sharp substrate so that they don't want to spend money.

As most people are against it I don't think I will get the panda Cory's and I didn't think that removing 2 honey gouramis would be enough for me to get 3 panda Cory's anyway from Tom

My head keeps saying go get the panda Cory's but I'm trying to fight the urge as I know it will overstock my tank but then the other part of my head is saying you will only be overstocked by 2 small fish and your filter is much more powerful than it needs to be and you change the water in the tank twice a week, it also says get them as they will have a nice home and lots of friend to play with.

I have been looking around online and seriously fish and planet catfish says that you can keep a small group of these In a 40 litre so I'm wondering would it be alright if I set up my old 40 litre and had the three from the pet store that I want to rescue and then get another 2 or 3 to go with them or are the websites lying about the space they need from Tom

As you know I have seen 3 panda Cory's at a fish shop I occasionally visit and they are in improper conditions as they are on very sharp stones. I have my old 40 litre tank with a heater and filter and wondered if I could set up a 40 litre tank for the 3 panda Cory's and then at a later date add another 3 to make 6 panda Cory's or would a 40 litre be to small for them. The panda Cory's would be the only fish in the 40 litre from Tom

You would just about get away with this - it is pushing boundaries a little, but not much.

Remember, though, that as soon as you buy these fish, the shop will replace them with more cories. You can't buy them all.

It's fine I have decided against setting up another tank just for the Cory's as I'm sure they will find a nice home with someone else and these Cory's have been in that shop since May last year as it's a small shop in a small village from Tom
