What is the difference in buying bunched plants or plants in the basket?

How do I plant these? Under the substrate or just resting on top? I recently lost a lot of plants (new) even thought I added fertiliser but I planted the baskets under the gravel and wondering if this was wrong??

ok.so plants in bunches.remove any wadding & lead weights.
Plants in pots, remove the'rockwool' and seperate indivual stems/plants
most will need to be planted in the substrate. The exception being plants like Anubias & Java Fern, which are tied to wood.
This vid goes on a bit, but will give a general idea. My link

Wow that was a very good video and has shown me I have been doing everything wrong...

Thank you very much!

Very good video. I have picked up things here and there, but there is always something new to learn.

great video, not so easy with 30 inch deep of water though.

Good excuse for a big water change :p

Still not easy when you've got everything where you want it already but buy good looking plants willy nilly anyway like I do :p That means I have to move all the carefully arranged Mopani wood and the rock caves and replant this here and that there... What a ball ache
