Hiya

Just bought some frozen Brine Shrimp, in individual cubes in a packet. Stupid question but how do I feed it? I've assumed it needs to be defrosted so one cube is currently doing that (sloooowly) in a bowl. Is that right?

I'm guessing you can't just drop it in frozen.

yeah that all there is to it you could also speed it up by putting some of the tank water in a small tub and defrosting it in there :hey:

Just lob it in frozen, soon dissipates and gets eaten :)

there is an argument to say that this isn't the best idea, given that your fish may be ingesting frozen food and this MAY cause problems with their digestion. Some say not, but waiting 10mins for it to thaw on a plate/bowl isn't going to cause you too much of a problem....

I used to do this aswell, but now I give it a few minutes and then wave the food block around in the water, it releases little pieces as it soon defrosts in 27C water.

There's no proof I suppose, but why run the risk when you can wait a few minutes :good:

James.

I 1/3 fill a small plastic beaker with tank water and swish the cube around until the actual food starts to poke out the sides of the ice. I then leave it 5 minutes to defrost further and then feed.

I used to boil the kettle and place boiled tap water onto icecubed bloodworms but I felt that food containing dissolved minerals and metals from tap water wasn't such a good idea.

I have always just put the frozen cube in. No fish have ever shown ill effects. To each their own though! :good:
