I bought this betta at a local petsense store (label stated Half Moon Betta), and it was originally white with spots of blue (opalescence or metallic) now that he's been in the tank for 5 days now and now the blue shows throughout his body but in place of the white it looks like a opalescence blue / green or from sapphire

blue to emerald green when light shines on him. His fins are clear with streaks of white, black, and the blue / green, and his gill fringe is also clear or opaque with spots of black. I have the tank filled to two thirds so the crab has room for air on the artificial island just under the filter, just enough that he cant get into the filter and get out of the tank. I love this little guy he comes to the surface or the front of the tank when he sees me or a shadow of me, he'll set still for me but when I get my phone to take a pic he moves away from the object, so I won't do that any more. Any advice is helpfull and Identification not so important just want to know ether way just think the pet store riped me off, price tag said Half Moon Betta 10.99, was the price right or wrong? Thank you and have a wonderful week.

You have a crab in the tank with the Betta? what sort crab? The crab could kill the betta.

He's either a half moon or delta depending on how wide his tail spread is. I can't say for sure if the price was right as that all depends on you. Was he worth the money you spent?

As for color, he is of no particular color form (such as cambodia, butterfly, or solid colors).

Here's an ok site on color classification.

As for the crab, it is not recommended to keep crabs or other critters with pincers with bettas. A long, flowing tail makes and easy target for things like crabs, crawfish and certain species of shrimp.

Thank you for the info my crab at the time has only two small pincers and basically lives behind the filter just above the water line even though I made him an island just under the filter. the tank is 10 gallon and no one seems to bother any one. Hope you have great day.
