She doesn't look like she is quite ready to drop yet, I may be mistaken but that looks like a platy. My platy before she dropped her babies "squared" up. The bulge on her tummy become kind of square in the front, thats when I knew she was ready to drop. I have tried to draw on your picture what she kind of looked like.PICT0002_2.jpg

I think you might have put her in the breeding trap to soon. You may still have a bit left, how long has she been pregnant?

I cant make out the gravid spot, but she is quite fat. I'm gonna have to trust you when you say the gravid spot is dark. But if you are right, then she'll have babies. Not quite sure when, but soon.

Try and see if you can post any more pictures.

she just gave birth to 2 fry! and she will probably have some more :D
umm when do i feed the fry and when do i put the mom back with the other fish?

Hi, Congratulations.

From past experience I would turn the light off so the babies don't swim towards the light and risk getting eten and prob leave her in there over night then take her out in the morning once you've counted the babies and checked that she doesn't have anymore. Also if you can sit and watch her coz it is a great experience wathcing a fish give birth! x

i will do that, when do i feed the fry tho. i fed the mom but the babies ibviousely didn't grab the food haha.

Feed the fry when the mum is out of the breeder. Once mum is out you can turn the light back on. I'm guessing you weren't quite prepared so tomorrow morning feed them normal food the if you can get some fry food. It won't be long before they learn that food is at the top. Then you need to feed them about 3 times a day. x

Feed them as soon as possible!!!!!!!!! She will have more babies. The black or " gravid" spot is basically the light in the tank glanceing off the babies eye's, so the bigger the spot, the more babies.

she is very skinny atm and the gravid spot is not dark anymore. i think she is done with her litter for now :)
