Hello all,

I added the cured live rock and live sand to my tank (Orca TL-450) on Jan. 31. On Feb. 1st, I tested ammonia, which was 0.25. Didn't test nitrite/nitrate.
Left it to cycle and tested again on Feb. 3rd:
Temp 27
SG 1.023
Ammonia 0.0
Nitrite 0.25
Nitrate 5-10
pH 8

Checked it again tonight and the readings were:
Temp 27
SG 1.023
Ammonia 0.0
Nitrite 0.0
Nitrate 5
pH 8.2

Started to see light brown areas on the sand yesterday, and a little bit of green algae on the LR from almost the beginning.
Do you think I'm ready for a water change and then adding a CUC?

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi,
Once the Ammonia and Nitrite reach zero perform a large waterchange and start testing for Nitrate if that comes in below 10 then its time. (lalways strive to keep Nitrates very low)
Regards
BigC

Hi BigC,

Thanks for the tip. Will be doing a waterchange tomorrow and checking the stats again. Hopefully, the nitrates will stay down and I can add a CUC soon.

Cheers
