Razzles depressed help

don't know whats wrong with him He just lies on his plants all the time and doesn't move. he is eating fine but i'm just worried about him.

He is in a separated tank with chilli who is very aggressive but they can't see each other,
the temp is at 75.5
his colour is fine
Won't flare
no filter but reg water changes


, it might sound daft but he ooks depressed

What do you mean by clamped fins
i tried putting a mirror at the tank and he just looks at it and won't flare

any ideas

Im not into bettas, but thought id suggest live food! Any fish like bettas, and especially bettas, LOVE live food! You could buy them live from your lfs, but mosquito larvae washed from somewhere near provides a big treat!

got raz a feeding cone today and added some live bloodworm and he seems to have perked up abit, he sits guarding the cone like a dog at a rabbit hole until a worm wiggles out and then it's bye bye wormy

Sounds like he may have been bored and needed something to get him interested.

If he's used to seeing Chili, then he's probably lonely. I had one literally DIE because he got so upset over his friend going away than he got sick and died. (this one was completely in love with his best friend in the divided tank, let me tell you...flared and wiggled for him all day long....)

Maybe let him see Chili for a little while and see if that perks him up.

Poor little guy. Does he have plenty of cover in there, then? Plenty of plants, and maybe a cave where he can hide away from everything in the world?

I'd suggest getting some Indian Almond Leaves or Blackwater Extract if this keeps up. They replicate the natural habitat, and have a good tendency to perk up unhappy Bettas...among other things.
