I have a spotted Raphael. I have had it for about 3 weeks and now it is starting to turn white. It's pelvic fins are turning a bland white right where the bone type thing is. Also the spikes on it's tail are turning white.

This is a sign of extreme stress.

What size tank do you have? Raphael catfish need at least 30Gallons and should be kept in small groups (3+).

If you have anything under 20G I suggest you take it back. If you have anything under 5 Gallons I suggest you re-think the fishkeeping hobby alltogether if you have not done any research or prepared for new inhabitants.

Remember, a fish is an animal, buy buying it you take on its welfare, if you cant care for it properly then you shouldnt be buying it at all.

it was meant as a joke. Also it is in a 15 gallon and i am getting a 55 soon. I am not trying to play the old " i'll upgrade later" game but it was one of my first fish and i didn't know anything about it. It is back to normal now. Could it have been that i turned the lights on after dark? It was around 11:30.
