I have one of those magnetic cleaners for the sides of my tank. The one I have in my 55 does not float. At least once per cleaning that *#$@er drops into the sand and when I get it stuck back to the side there is at least one grain of sand in it. I always am glad I am using it on a glass tank at that point

So basically I would not use a sand substrate with a plexiglass tank. (at least not with one of those magnetic glass cleaners)

My random thought of the day, thank you ;) :D

If you are looking to buy one of those magnetic cleaners I would aways recommend one of the ones that floats btw. That way your not picking sand or gravel out of your scrubber everytime you get too enthusiastic scrubbing the tank

This reminds me, I got an interesting tip the other day: use a plastic card, for example an old "phone card" (is that what they're called?), and use that as a scraper. No risk of scratches on the glass this way, unlike with a cleaner. No risk of accidentally cutting the silicone either, as with one of those razor blade things. :)

EDIT: Ok, no more "class scratching". ;)

"No risk of scratches on the class this way"

Well, I have no class, so I don't have to worry about scracthing it! :D

Good idea btw, I'll remember that when my cleaner gets too much sand stuck in it.
