well yesterday io placed my one small (1.5") ram in a 2.5gal on my desk till my 29gal is done and ready for him again....welll today i seen him go sideways on the bottom liek he is trying to scratch himself or something, he was sick before i got him from the LFS so i had to wait to get him, is this ich? juat wondering....the 2.5gal dont have gravel in yet not sure how long he has to stay in here so i have not put gravel in

:look:

UPDATE:
well i got the meds now and he isnt having aloss of appetite or nothing.

may be ick, mine have ick but i havnt been able to treat it, ive raised the temp. and put in the meds but nothing, they seem to be acting fine tho. he may just not like the 2.5 gallon, its probably like a prison to him.

you know i was thinking it being the 2.5gal im not sure im scared to put him in the 29gal it has ammonia @ 1.5mg all the fish in there are fine though no symptons at all he didnt have symptons either int he tank then

in the 29 is

1 bala shark
1 pleco
1 cory
2 neons

andi dont want to risk stressing him by moving him again

i bet he would be alrite in the 29 gallon, but he needs a mate, another ram. or even more than another a few others.

well... im scared for one with the condition of the 29gal.... i would get him a mate but they where out i have special order one, i waas going to wait till the 29gal is ready and get a mate fror him and a pair of kribs

u think i should return him to the 29gal with the other fish

well i put him back in there imjust gonna keep up the water changes im hoping for the best - he seems happier so far

my cichlids tend to flick from time to time on the gravel and decor. unless he is doing it constantly i would not worry, just keep an eye on him. if it is ich, there should be other symptoms present. mainly the presence of what appears to be salt sprinkled on the fish.

flicking can be a symptom of any parasite, not just ich. the parasite lives in the water and is transfered from tank to tank by fish, contaminated water or equipment. the parasite is not visible to the naked eye. fish will show symptoms of the parasite when it is attached to the host fish. parasites can thrive in aquariums, unattached, for 7-10 days. once the fish stops showing signs of the parasite you should still continue treatment for the 7-10 day period following.

even though the 2.5 gallon is rather small for even a hospital tank, i would of left him in there rather than exposing him to the ammonia. watch for signs of toxin poisoning.

good luck

well ever since puttin him back in the 29g everything been perfect i can actually say im still doing water changes daily today i added one mor eram to the tank which he absolutley HATES i guess its a territory thing he got set but he keeps chasing the new one to me it looks liek the new one is a female sinc eits dull in color and the other one is real colorful - also the fins on top are a bit different the older ones look more spikey - but yet its only been a few hrs its hard ot tell how they will get along but everything is going good with them :hey:
