i've had my ram now for about 1 week and have not once seen him eat flakes i feed tetramin pro i have only seen him eat lots of bloodworm a lot any ideas

Try feeding it peas. Shell the peas, microwave them in a little water until the water boils and then feed them to the fish. Mine love peas.

Most fish will refuse flakes if a yummy alternative is available, after all would you eat a bowl of branflakes if you were offered a bacon sandwidge at the same time?
Try getting some Hikari cichlid staple pellets (sinking variety in micro size), should get your rams taste buds going, will enhance its colour too.

My rams love the bloodworms too. I only give it to them every few days. I stopped giving mine flakes because it was too messy. I started using micro pellets, but they like to wait until they start to sink. This is a bit of a problem because I have other fish in the tank that quickly eat all the food. People have told me if they are hungry enough they will come to the top. And so far the females will come to surface to feed, the males are a little more stubborn, but they look healthy. I haven't tried the peas yet but I'm planning to. Good luck.

hmmmmm i do also put sinking pellets in for bottom feeders and thats where he spends all his time and the flakes all get blown down to the bottom but he does'nt even look at the flakes or pellets and last tim i fed bloodworm about 1 day ago i did'nt see him eat any of that apart from this problem he seems totally healthy
P.S should i ring the store i got him from and ask what they feed the rams?

Whenever buying a new fish it is a good idea to find out what the fish has been eating.

TRY BRINE SHRIMP OR SOMETHING SMALL AND TRY TURNING THE LIGHT OF AND STANDING FAR FROM THE TANK FISH SOMETIMES WONT EAT INFRONT OF U
BECAUSE MY ARAWANA NEVER DID BUT HE LIVED FOR 10 YEARS
