Hi guys and girls, I got a pair of rams last friday (bolivian or GBR i cant tell, they were listed as GBR) and the male today has his pectoral fins, anal fin,and tail clamped but is showing no signs of illness (such as white spots, skinnyness, redness etc) and i dont know what to do,any idea what illness it could be,it was introduced to a cycled tank along with 4 panda corys so it wasnt a large increase in bio load, meaning ammonia and nitrite levels have remained at 0. They currently still are 0 and 0, nitrates are below 20 and always are due to my water change schedule. I have a video that i'll upload shortly showing how the fish is acting.

I have a 17L tank (with filter and heater) in the cupboard that im gonna set up and get going for him, along with some eSHa 2000...Hope it helps

what temperature, get a pic up for IDing

whats your PH and GH?

tank size?

dont treat without knowing the problem

agree with truck here.
when i had rams they neede their own teritory and space, if they are only in a tank with corys that are very active that could be a problem, if the tank is quite small that could be a factor. they clamped the fins when stressed and also lost the colouring that was really obvious.
gbr's have blue speckles on them with red fins and a yellow body like the one in trucks avatar, females have a red/purple/pink belly.

PH is 7.9 and stable,LFS PH is prob same
GH dont know, dont have a test kit but it will be hard
size is 240L and stocking is as sig

your pH is quite high for a ram but if lfs is very similar and you introduced them into your tank properly then i cant see that being too much of a problem. there are quite alot of people that have lost german blue rams within a few weeks , a month or 2. they seem to be very hit and miss for staying alive! if they are bolivian rams then they are said to be hardier than the gbr's but having not kept any i dont know 100%.

there is also quite alot going on in your tank, maybe this has something to do with it.... the angels will have their own teritory and will chase any fish away from it. with all the others swimming about it may just be stressing the rams! if there is no obvious symptoms of disease then just keep a close eye on them.

if it is a german blue ram your PH is too high and your GH will be too high also, and if its a GBR you will have to keep it at 28-32oC or they will live shortened lives, and will be prone to disease

oh right, cheers guys, i dont wanna go messing about with PH adjusting chemicals and/or RO water so i think ill just see how the pair go (the female is currently fine and up until yesterday the male was happy too, both fish didnt show any signs of stress when being acclimated so i dont think they mind the tank PH..the angels were introduced on wednesday so maybe them being in there is stressing the male GBR..)

If i lose them i wont be keeping GBRs again..

Male showed signs of recovery...but then died this morning.
