hey guys so i got a GBR last week. and he has eventually warmed up and isnt so shy and has seemed to become pretty good friends with my angelfish surprisingly. its weird they swim around together. anyways...

he wont eat any of the food ive been giving him. ive tried flakes and pellets, even the nice frozen bloodworms. and theyre all high qaulity food, and he still wont eat.

however the only thing he likes to eat is my christmas moss. this is a problem because im doing a moss tree. i also know hes eating because ive been seeing him poop everyday. except for its my moss.

any suggestions would be great.

Is he able to get at the food as my rams are always out done by tiger barbs when the food goes in. I was so worried at one point that ive bought a turkey baster so i can squirt food in so its nearer to them as they dont compete for food well.
That aside, just keep adding tasty treats & hopwfully it will come around.
Bare in mind that it also likes to scavenge food from the bottom, well mine do so it may be eating more than you realise!!

try getting hold of some live foods just to get him to start eating then wean him onto the other foods

i have 5 neon tetras and an angelfish and theyre pretty voracious. whenever i feed them they all go right after the food. but the ram seems intriged, but does go after the food. however i always see him scavaging along the bottom.

as long as he doesnt have a shrunken belly then he should be fine

I wouldnt worryateas my GBR's & kribs always scour the bottom searching through the subsyraye and they appear fine, in fact mu lribs are spawning & it appearsy rams are
Getting ready too so really, unless they do have sunken bellies, look lethargic, etc i wouldnt worry!!

I've had this problem, especially with shy or less bold fish. If you feed from the same point in the tank, try spreading it around the whole surface & feed combinations of foods. This will give food chance to get past the more confident feeders & when the Ram works out that one type of food is yummy, it'll hopefully start trying others fed alongside it. Good luck.
Oh yes, and don't be tempted to overfeed to compensate!
