Yesterday I bought some amano shrimp and zebra snails from my LFS and added them to my 230l tank stocked with: 6 boesemani rainbowfish, guppies, platys and lemon tetras. This morning I checked in on the tank but noticed that I could not see any of the shrimp. All of the snails were there. I did see one shrimp sitting on the filter outtake tube but that was it. This evening the same shrimp is in the same spot and I am wondering if it is because it is stressed from the rainbowfish predating upon them. The tank is heavily planted with many hiding spots for them so I wouldn’t blame them for not coming out after only a day but I was worried about the compatibility between boesemanis and amano shrimp. Mine are about 2.5 years old so they are quite big and the shrimp were a bit of a range in length but probably the smallest was around 1.5cm or so, so pretty small. I was just wondering if any of you would have any experience with these 2 species as I don’t imagine any of the other fish would pose any danger but I am just worried that they could have been eaten

In my experience guppies and platys prey on baby shrimp. I never had rainbows or lemon tetras but assume they would also make a meal out of small shrimp.

Large, adult rainbows such as bosemani but also others will eat anything small if in sight. Everytime. No matter how well fed. Small fish, worm, shrimp, pellet, flake, all the same.

Yes I see. Perhaps I underestimated them, a couple of the larger ones have emerged now but I think some of the smaller ones may have gotten eaten. Unless they are in hiding. Thanks for the advice
