So, I am starting a new 30 gallon aquarium. I am currently doing a fishless cycle right now, but when it is completed, I plan to put a Rainbow shark and probably 2-3 other species of community fish in there (Cherry barb, Zebra Danio, Fancy Guppy), depending on the amount of room there is after plants, driftwood, etc. has been placed in the tank. Anyway, is there a specific order in which I should fill the tank, or should all of the fish be placed in at once? My Rainbow will basically be the only aggressive fish, so I'm not sure if putting him in first (so he can establish a territory, etc.) would be a good idea, or if putting him in last would be the way to go...or maybe it doesn't even matter?

Hi, tbh The tank is a bit too small to house a shark for life, meaning levels of aggression will be high once it matures.

With any territorial fish you want to add them last as they will then be more accepting of the current occupants, In an empty tank however it could easily claim the whole tank as its own,

Would personally disregard the guppys tbh if the stocking is going to include the above three cyprinids, these may suffer at their hands and a better alternative would be another Cyprinid species or possibly a larger livebearer such as a pair or trio of Swordtails

Well, I do realize the tank is a bit small for the Rainbow, but I figured after about a year or so, I'd step up to maybe a 55 gallon. I figured a 30 gallon would be okay while the fish is still at it's smallest size and age, but yes, it will be replaced in time. But thanks for the input, I'll keep that in mind. I won't have enough room for three other species anyway, so I'll probably just go with the barbs and danios.

i put my albino rainbow shark in second he was rely shy ,, he was fine with danios then a 2 weeks ago i put clown louches in now he swims with them :hyper: aslong as he has a littel bit he's happy :good:
