does any one now how long it takes rainbow cichlids to breed and have eggs. ive had mine now for nearly 2 weeks. when i had them the female was allready full of eggs she had the babies but ive lost them all. how long will it take b4 i get any more

When you say the female 'had the babies' do you mean she laid her eggs but they got eaten/destroyed/hatched and died...or that she gave birth to them? The way you put it makes it seem she gave birth to them, but rainbow cichlids lay eggs (you probably know this but I am just checking).

I would expect given the male and female are in good condition and nothing has changed, they will be breeding sometime soon (2 weeks should be enough), though try and be patient, make sure the male isn't beating up the female as he will be ready to breed before she is.

sorry yes she laid the eggs they hatched but i lost them all partly my fault as i moved half of them in to a fry tank and left the others in the same tank for mum to look after. but she tryed to put the rest in the fry tank by blowing them through the gaps. and my other fish eat them all. they are my firs pair of these lovely fish ive had so didnt no anything abouth them. so i will leave mum look after them all next time. just bought somr parrot ones to. but been told they wont breed. bummer
