I'm sorry about your betta :(

It's part of fishkeeping and the learning curve. It's the bad part. I think we all learn some hard stuff the hard way. :-(

Sorry about your fishy!!! Apollo has been battling fin/tail rot since June--he goes into remission and then wham! I have learned a lot from people on this site about Betta diseases so PLEASE do not be afraid to get on here and ask questions. Hope your next fishy is healthier and is with you a LONG time!!

:rip: little fishy!

Thanks...Since i got this betta from the flea market...I suggest that nobody else get it from their fish from the flea market ever again only if the seller has a license to sell fish. People in the flea market dont need licenses to sell fish so they dont care. ...It seems that the fish that i bought already had fin rot but I never noticed. Even in the picture I cant see any sign of fin rot...But b4 I bought the fish the man told me that all the other females died of fin rot and thats over 10 females but he said that the one that I bought wasnt in the tank at the time...Which is a total LIE! But for now im trying to ask breeders to lend me fry so I can put it my 10 gallon tank...Im expecting to get one from wuvmybetta at the end of the week...So hopefully everything will work out...Can't wait.

Sounds good, arrowhead.

Cross contamination is a problem. Be sure to clean and disinfect that tank and anything you used in that tank: nets, dipper cups, everything. I use boiling and a 10% clorine bleach solution and, of course, the old standby, sunlight and fresh air. Infections with fish can spread just like with people. It's a pain, but it's fishkeeping. It's also another reason to watch where you get your fish and quarantine them for about 3 weeks. Once an infection sets in it can be difficult to eradicate.

sorry for your loss :-(

please as i have said before a number of times, please do not get anymore bettas till you know what you are doing and do some research, if you had done this in the first place she may not have died. Nice to see you have upgraded your tanks at least even if it is only in writing

When did I upgrade my tanks... It died a day after I got it ...So its not the way im treating her. The only explination in my mind is that she had some type of disease from B4. I fed her...She had a cycled tank, and I thought she was adjusting to her enviorment. The fish store said that she had fin rot but the fins werent even gone!

if you were told she had fin rot then why didn't you treat it.

and when you first started posting on here your bettas were in 1/2 gallons untill people cussed you then all of a sudden your sig changed.

Who cussed me? That was Durbkat that upgraded his tanks...Not me...He had a whole topic on it also. and what do you mean why didnt I treat her disease... I never even knew she had fin rot until i brought her in a plastic bag when she was dead to petco to see if someone can tell me what she had...Why would i give her medication when shes DEAD!

Heres the link: Durbkat's Topic

red-devil0602 if your trying to tell me that I don't care for my precious bettas then you can tell that to everyone who owned a betta and made a mistake...This is my first death in the whole time i've been keeping bettas. So are you trying to say that you never lost a betta? Please be honest. I can still be a begginner to bettas even if I had them for 10 years...That doesnt make me the best betta keeper in the world...And as Bxbetta said to give people the benefit of the doubt so it isnt really nice to say that I don' t care about my bettas and I don't want to treat them if their sick...I dont really have all the knowledge of betta keeping and thats why im here to ask the questions that were un-answered. If I knew how to treat fin rot wouldnt I be treating her with the medication. Please don't tell me that I shouldn't get more. I dont get bettas just to keep in tanks and forget about them. It's my hobby and I hope that you understand that you cant just tell people that they cant have anything just because of one mistake. I know you may be thinking that its a big mistake...But please just give me a break. I can't know right away that my betta is sick. I even posted a topic to see if people can help me but I just got that she had constipation so I gave her a defrosted pea. so that didnt work. So I figured I would sleep on it and see what I can do tommorow. But I guess thats not good enough for you because you think that I dont sleep and have to take care of my betta when I dont know what she sickness she has...Dont you see that life is full of taking risks and that sometimes mistkes happen. You propably have all the knowledge in the world about bettas. But I was here hoping that someone with your knowledge would just answer my topic about my sick betta in the emergency section that wouldve helped so if your trying to help me by telling me that I cant have anymore bettas or that I dont care about my bettas Ill have you know that if you just answered my topic I couldve treated her. So dont come after shes dead and tell me that I dont care.

Arrowhead: it is excellent that you seem to be addressing the issues that knowledgable fishkeepers are bringing to your attention.

Nevertheless, it would be to your credit to be more open to past mistakes.

Read this thread, it seems to confirm that you were spoken to about the 1/2 usg. If you are having trouble housing the fish, say what you are doing. I have housed a new Betta in 3 qt vases until the tank was ready. It means scupulous 100% waterchanges every few days.

Here's your thread where overcrowding was addressed--after which a female died.

here

I think it appears that you do ask and research your fish. You do seem to care to ask. I just checked your postings in the different forums where you were trying to make friends and find out about your pets.

Still, overcrowding can contribute to infection including fin rot. A thing is what it is.

I give you credit for trying to address the issues, which is why I've stayed mum on the various denials of past mistakes.

About bettas being lazy;
My bettas aren't always that active, but they never just sit still on the bottom, either.
They move around as much as they can in a 1.5G, which isn't alot of room.

By the way, Arrowhead, one of my male ADF's is hanging onto Mama. He's been riding her for eight hours now. I suppose someone will eat the eggs. :-(

This is where i got your tank size from

How Do I Breed My Bettas?

sorry to side track the topic but in your sig it says you have a betta AND a adf in 1/2 gallon tank is that true?

yes i have lost 1 betta which was a female who i think died from being bullied from the other females in her tank

it isnt really nice to say that I don' t care about my bettas

i didn't say you didn't care

If I knew how to treat fin rot wouldnt I be treating her with the medication.

What do you think we are here for

Please don't tell me that I shouldn't get more. I dont get bettas just to keep in tanks and forget about them. It's my hobby and I hope that you understand that you cant just tell people that they cant have anything just because of one mistake.

I am not telling you i am advising you not to get any more until you know what you are doing, i don't want you to have to go through the loss again. you time and money would be better spent on spoiling the ones you have and researching everything you need to know before risking any more deaths

But I was here hoping that someone with your knowledge would just answer my topic about my sick betta in the emergency section that wouldve helped so if your trying to help me by telling me that I cant have anymore bettas or that I dont care about my bettas Ill have you know that if you just answered my topic I couldve treated her. if i had seen you topic i would've answered as i always try to help as people who know me will tell you, i know you care about your bettas otherwise you wouldn't be here

red-devil, sorry to poke my coradoras nose in, but her sig says 1 male Betta and 2 ADF's in a 3 gallon.

My eyes are dim but I'm pretty sure that's what it says.
