Couldn't agree more Alien_Spawn!
I have one too and It's so loud!
I would like to find more that's not so loud, and not pay a ton for it.

i heard the whisper one was quiet, but there expensive, anybody have a whisper pump?

I have a whisper and a rena, and they're both bloody noisy! However the whisper may not be working properly as it got water in it a while ago, and I can't remember how quiet it was before that. Make sure you keep the air pump above water level otherwise the water siphons back through the airline (learn from my mistake  )

Are we talking about the little pumps for toys and air stones etc?

I was worried about noise so I was going to order a tetratec or whatever. Then I thought, "I'll just go to petco, buy one, and if it's too loud I'll take it back".

Bought a Profile 1500 for $10 and unless I hold it next to my ear I can't hear it at all. But then I do have other filters and computers running in the same room.

I doubt this helps at all, but I'm passing it along anyway.

I'm in the same boat. My many-year-old Supra air pump is losing efficiency (again) and I can no longer find rebuild kits. I have religated it to driving a bubble wall in my 30-gal tank, and began searching for a new pump to drive my undergravel filter. I purchased a TetraTec Deep 24-2. BOY what air delivery! It is fantastic! :kana: Unfortunately, this performance comes at the price of noise. Not terribly loud, especially given the volume of air it's moving, but not silent (I'm not exaggerating) like my Supra.

I was considering a Rena, since I've seen *many* favorable reviews, both on their longevity, and quiet operation; however, I see two posts in a row that this may not be the case? :dunno:

I'd like to find a pump that performs like the Deep 24, but silently (or as close as is humanly possible) without spending a fortune.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks! :)

Andy
