Quiet Filter Needed

Thanks for your input, one and all (I love this forum). I have a Fluval 3+ currently, and it's making little clicking noises, which though I can sleep through are a little annoying.

There is literally no room for an external, as the tank takes up almost all of the space, and what's left is taken up by my CO2 system and CFL inverter.

I heard that those stingray ones are quiet, anyone have experience with them?

Inchworm, I don't deal with noise too well when i'm trying to sleep - you wouldn't believe how much I spent to make my PC run silent! I just about tolerate the mild squeaking of the CO2 diffuser.

Can't use an undergravel as 1) the tank is already filled, with nutrient substrate layers and heavily planted, and 2) I want to keep khuli loaches, which will all hide in the undergravel filter if the stories are to be believed!

Looking at Eheim filters, I thought I saw ones that were internals too? EDIT: the 2210 powerball

don't get a stingray filter, don't know how quiet they are but they're rubbish filters, hardly any media capacity.

i think eheim do an internal range called 'aquaballs' or something like that. not used them personally to give specific feedback though.

<cough> Interpet PF2 <cough> :)

Seriously though, I can't fault it, can run as quietly, or as noisey/bubbly as you like, has space for course foam, charcoal foam, fine 'wool' and bio-media.
It's easy to clean, doesn't take much room in the tank, and, well, I can't really say much more about it other than I love it for my 60L tank :)

They do them in other sizes too, but the PF2 is variable between 150 to 450 Lph, so should serve your purposes.
If you want any picture of it or anything let me know and I can sort some out, and before anyone asks... no, I'm not affiliated with Interpet in any way, I'm just a fan of this filter :p

Have you properly cleaned the impeller?

It could need a good clean or one of the fins could be bent or broken.

A new impeller for the 3+ is around £10
