What's the quietest range of air pumps money can buy (in the UK)?

My living room and dining room (where the tank is) are not seperated by a wall and I have quite a small terraced house - will those pumps be quiet enough to be on 24/7?

It depends on how loud or quiet you can stand it? I would be quite comfortabe to have an air pump in my lounge. it would be better if you could have it in a cupboard or cabinet, this would reduce the noise further. if you go to your LFS (one that sels them) I think world of water would be your nearest, they should be able to show you one working.

I already have (an old) one in a cabinet and it's starting to get on my nerves - it's already in a cabinet...

old ones are usually noisy. like I say just ask for a demo at the lfs. I can't really say how loud they are as it depends what you can put up with. maybe ear-plugs LOL

d'u guys have tetra-tec products over there? i have a pump by tetra-tec and it's soooooooo quiet all i can hear r the bubbles in makes......
