Quickst And Humane Way To Kill A Fish

i've only had to do it twice in ten years but i place a newspaper at the side of the tank catch the fish in a net and put it on the newspaper, flip the newspaper over the net and just squash it quick and hard, 2 seconds max from catching it and death, not mentally the easiest but quicker than any other method. neadless to say throw the net.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. I think it's partly what's best for the fish and partly what's best for the owner. Personally I have no problems destroying a fish by whatever means seems quickest and least drawn out for the fish, but I can see that there are some that would find it hard to destroy a fish in some ways.

pet stores will take fish or maybe trade in credits? lol? its still alive in differnt container? i dun wana kill it. i just dont want it(him) anymore. its been tackling my other blue goramis . i guess ill try to give it to a pet store

Most of the locally owned fish stores in my area will give store credit for trade-ins of fish or plants as long as they're in decent shape (Pet Smart and the likes won't). Might not be much, but it's better to be rid of it and have a dollar or two to use towards a new fish or just food than to be rid of it and have nothing to show. Call around, tell them you have a moonlight gourami about ____ big. It's in good shape, but is bullying tank mates, and if you could trade it in towards a different fish.

thats the thing tho, it wasnt in good shape it was dying.... I died in my hand anyway before i got a chance to end its pain..

i plan do do that with my 50 fry i have.. i will just give them to my LFS because i dont have the heart to kill things or leave them to get eatn

Taking it to a vet is best, but costly. The 2nd best is clove oil/decapitation. 3rd is ice water.

I didnt actaully do it!!!! he died in my hand as soon as i lifted him out the tank....
