Erm I'm currently cycling a 2.4g tank, but I have a 4ft tank downstairs with convict cichlid in it could i squeeze some of the filter media, and use some of the tank water to cycle my 2.4g?.
If you rub your existing, matured filter media all over the new media, then Yes, you have kick-started the growing and maturing of your new tank. I would not add much if any of your convict tank water to your new aquarium...
