hey guys. i downsized from my 12 rainbows to these 6. they're all doing well. i recently added that small female boesemani to offset the male/female ratio, and will add a female m. praecox when i can find her.

let me know any comments or questions you may have.


there is a fish in there that discussion always goes back and forth between M. herbertaxelrodi (what I bought him as), and M. trifasciata 'Goyder River' (very rare around here). comment on that if you can based on the video.

i know i have barely posted on this site at all lately, and since bowheads.org is down, i've been pretty much off the boards.

the lacustris pair is coming along nicely, although no spawns have ever happened so far

My lacustris juveniles are laying eggs at 4 months of age. I couldn't believe it!

are you actively doing something to get them to spawn?
my herbertaxelrodi, boesemani, and lacustris males all display to her and fight over her, but i've never seen eggs nor egg-laying. now i also have a juvenile female boesemani who is flirting with the boys but is too young i think. do they ever just spawn without encouragement?

i ask because my angels seem to have no problems spawning in that same community tank. i'm not really looking to breeding them, just them spawning

They are just spawning on their own. 1 and a half inches+ and laying actual fertile eggs. I walk into the fish room atr any time during the day and all I see are males displaying their spawning stripe for the females. I need to set up the video camera and capture this so you can see it lol.

yes you do

my guys are all 2"+ (except. the juvie female boesemani, and the praecox male of course) and they do nothing apparently
